  • Nature’s Pencil refers to scientist, writer, and photographer Henry Fox Talbot’s observation that photography can draw the world with light more accurately than a pencil. His book, The Pencil of Nature was the first ever published book of photographs and is widely regarded as one of the great philosophical texts on the import and meaning of photography for our world.
